Recruiter Corner: Three Ways To Make Your Job Ad Irresistible
Attracting the right candidates is challenging for every legal recruiter. Fortunately, there are a few things you can do to make your job ad irresistible to top talent.
- Be specific. Make your job description as detailed as possible. Giving candidates many details about the law firm’s culture, clientele, and the opportunities the job will offer will help you reach the talent who are the best fit. Avoid generalities in your job ad whenever possible. Getting specific will help you stand out.
- Don’t hide the “negatives.” Just because a law firm has “negative” traits, such as a fast-paced or competitive environment, doesn’t mean that these traits will scare off talent. Highlight the so-called “negatives” so that you can attract those candidates who are looking for a challenge. For example, a law firm that has a high volume of case loads and a competitive environment may attract attorneys who are looking for a challenge after working at a less competitive firm. By highlighting the “flaws” you can find those people who are looking for the type of opportunity you’re offering.
- Describe the recruiting process. While you don’t need to offer a detailed, blow-by-blow description of the recruiting process, offering some insight can help you catch the eye of top talent. For example, you might say something as simple as, “this employer is eager to hire someone in the next month” or “interviews are ongoing now.” This lets the candidates know that you’re serious about filling this position immediately.
