Recruiter Corner: How To Double Your Monthly Placement Rate

The number of placements per month is a good measure of any recruiter’s success. The more placements per month, the more financial success a recruiter will experience. So how does a legal recruiter increase their placement rate? Below are a few tips:

1.      Build trust with your clients by consistently sending them strong job candidates. Once the client realizes that you almost always send them a winner, they will feel comfortable interviewing most or even all of the job candidates you recommend.

2.      Attract the right candidates from the beginning. The more time a recruiter wastes reading resumes from unqualified job candidates the fewer placements they will make. Write a strong job ad and place it in the correct markets to attract the type of job candidates your clients want to hire.

3.      Use referrals as much as possible. Top job candidates are more likely to consider jobs where someone they know makes a referral. When leaving a message for job candidates, use the referrers name and you will increase the chances of receiving a callback.

4.      Help the job candidate put compensation into perspective. Too many top job candidates turn down good job opportunities due to short-term issues such as compensation packages. If you know the compensation package will fall short of a top performer’s expectations, help them understand other value offered by the company. Opportunities such as career advancement and the chance to impact a firm’s bottom-line directly may prove attractive to high quality job candidates.
