Do you have an unusually high
number of “hiring fails”? Do you send
out a candidate and then there’s just dead silence from the hiring
manager? If so, you may be making some
critical recruiting mistakes. Below are a few tips:
- If a job candidate is a bad
match, a hiring manager may simply not respond and instead take a look at
other candidates sent by another recruiter. To reduce the possibility of this
happening too often, make sure that you only send your star job candidates
to clients. Carefully review the job order and make sure that you match
the company to the right candidates.
- Even when a recruiter does
their best to match employers with the most appropriate candidates, hiring
managers may have other reasons for not moving from the interview stage to
hiring. This is why it’s important
that the recruiter send 2 to 3 different job candidates for each job
order. Using this strategy, the
recruiter gives the client choices so that if one candidate doesn’t fit,
the client can choose another without needing to work with a different
recruiter.
- When taking a job order,
the recruiter should get a rough estimate of how long the hiring process
will take and they should make it clear to the client that all job
candidates are actively interviewing for other positions. Knowing that the job candidate may be
hired by a rival will give hiring managers an incentive to avoid delays.
