When many legal recruiters think of branding, they
think of logos and slogans. But when it
comes to branding yourself as a highly sought after recruiter, it simply boils
down to reputation. What do potential clients and candidates think about you as
a recruiter? If the answer is, “They
don’t really think anything about me,” then you have probably neglected
building your reputation (personal brand). Below are a few tips on how you can
begin building your recruiter reputation quickly and easily:
- Create
and maintain your presence in both the recruiter and legal industry. This means legal recruiters should
attend events, post on industry related blogs, forums and social networks.
You don’t need to do this all the time; but you need to do it consistently
over the life of your recruiter career.
- Deliver
consistently good results for your clients, on both the employee and job
candidate side. A recruiter known
as the person who can deliver quality candidates is more likely to get the
best job orders. And likewise, the recruiter known for placing job
candidates well will have access to top talent even in competitive job
markets.
- Make
sure your first impression is a good one. The cliché “You never get a
second chance to make a first impression” has a lot of truth to it. When
interacting with clients and job candidates for the first time aim to put
your best foot forward.
