by Beverly Aarons 7. September 2011 08:17

As the threat of natural disaster continues to loom over much of the country, many companies, large and small are getting prepared. Ready.gov offers a comprehensive list of tips about what companies and individuals can do to prepare for dissipater. But what about the “calm after the storm”? How can recruiting firms get back to business as normal after disaster strikes? Let’s take a look at a few tips:

  1. First secure a location for your business operations. If your office was damaged by a disaster, you should immediately move operations to your backup location.
  2. Secure any files or software you need from you backup systems, so that operations can be as seamless as possible after the disaster. If you have lost important files, contact your IT professional and begin the process of recovering the most important documents first.
  3. Contact all staff, both permanent and contracted. Find out if workers are available or if they are dealing with issues arising from the disaster. By accounting for the staff you have, you will be better equipped to deal with the daily demands of your company.
  4. Connect with current clients and confirm that they are operational.  Find out if you need to cancel interviews, or if anything major has been changed or will be delayed due to the disaster.
  5. Become informed about any disaster relief offered to small business operators and then apply.  Sometimes when a large disaster strikes a community, disaster recover assistance becomes available to businesses, make sure you get all the help you need.
