While a
recruiter can always make more money or purchase more supplies, the amount of
time each recruiter has is limited. We all only get 24 hours in a day, so when
it comes to increasing productivity, the smart recruiter tries to find how they
can become more effective using less time. Below are a few tips:
- Use technology and software that saves time and
energy. Consider software that can
filter resumes, track candidates and send out invoices and letters. Remember, technology is a tool and you
don’t need to own every bell and whistle to get the maximum amount of
benefit for your recruiting efforts.
- Don’t let your previous recruiting efforts go
to waste. When you’re recruiting for a client, revisit high quality
candidates from previous recruiting efforts. A matter of fact, every recruiter should
keep a file of previous job candidates who were of high quality that you
want to consider for future jobs. Those candidates should be the first
people you contact BEFORE you begin to source candidates you have never
evaluated.
- Make sure you have a strong referral program
and take the time to use it. It’s a lot less time consuming to evaluate
referrals from job candidates you trust and who are of a high quality. Recruiters
with a strong referral program can win more job orders by delivering good
matches to clients quickly because they don’t have to engage in job order
“cattle calls.”
