Who Are The Recruiters Top Attorneys Want To Know?

by Beverly Aarons 8. June 2011 08:44

When it comes to recruiting top performing passive candidates, it can be a difficult task even in tight job markets.  But skilled attorneys who are passively searching for a job are often more than willing to jump at an opportunity when they see it.  And sometimes these passive candidates see opportunity in having a a relationship with certain types of legal recruiters. But who are the legal recruiters top attorneys want to know? Let’s take a look at just a few of the traits passive candidates are looking for in a recruiter:

  1. Passive candidates are searching for the legal recruiters who have strong existing relationships with “hot” companies.  The legal recruiter who has relationships with the companies for which attorneys want to work will have fewer barriers to accessing passive candidates.
  2. Passive candidates are searching for legal recruiters who do more than feed candidates through the job order mill. They want recruiters who are accessible and who are willing to offer career advice to their candidates.  They also want recruiters who take the time to get to know their career goals and will work hard to connect the job candidate to only those job opportunities that align with those goals.
  3. Passive candidates are searching for legal recruiters who are willing to spend a little time prepping them for the interview. Recruiters who understand the culture and interview process of the company for which they are sourcing and who are willing to share that information with their job candidates will be favored by many passive candidates.
