Frugality isn’t about being a miser or pinching every penny; but for smart recruiters frugality is about optimizing every dollar earned. Recruiters who have made frugality a part of their business plan usually share certain habits. Let’s take a look at four habits of the frugal recruiter:
- Frugal recruiters always take responsibility for their finances. They take control of what they can and try to respond appropriately to things which are outside of their control. For example, if their revenue has decreased, they might increase the time they spend cold-calling potential clients while simultaneously reducing some of their expenses.
- Frugal recruiters prepare for the worse while working towards the best outcomes. For example, they make sure they have a “rainy day” fund and make sure they have a strategy for increasing the amount of job orders they win.
- Frugal recruiters have long-term and short-term financial goals in mind, while making sure they operate within their means. For example, while they may dream of opening an office downtown, they effectively operate out of their home office while they grow their business.
- Frugal recruiters learn to say no to expenses which aren’t justified while saying yes to expenses which are necessary. For example, they might decline to sign up for a service which brings no ROI for their business, while spending money on services and products that are clearly valuable and promise to enrich their company.
