The school year is almost coming to a close; but the job of connecting to law school graduates and students continues for legal recruiters who want to tap into new talent. Below are a few tips on staying plugged into the law school graduate and student scene even after colleges go on summer break:
- Go where the law school students and recent graduates congregate. The easiest way to do this is by connecting to students and graduates on social networks such as Leopard Pride. But don’t just go there and lurk, let your presence be known and get involved.
- Become a resource for law school students and recent graduates. While some of the basics about working in the legal industry may seem just like that – basic; many recent graduates and law school students are looking for answers to questions that more experienced attorneys don’t need. Take the time to be available to those new attorneys and your efforts will be rewarded by with relationships that could eventually lead to placing fresh talent with the right firm.
- Become the bridge between graduates/students and employers. Ask your clients if they have a need for interns, if they’re interested in mentoring or if they have entry level/summer break positions available to new attorneys.
- Consider doing a workshop or seminar focused on attorneys just entering the legal profession. If you don’t have the time or resources available to do a “physical” workshop, consider doing a virtual one on a social network such as Leopard Pride.
