Using Leopard
Pride and other social networks for your job search, to make connections or as
a promotion tool for your recruiter business? Well the foundation of a good
social networking strategy for both recruiters and job seekers is the effective
use of the member profile. Let’s take a look at a few tips:
1.
Don’t
leave your profile empty. We are all guilty of this. We sign up for an online social network, get busy and forget
to fill in our profile. That’s a
mistake. You must take the time;
even if it is only five minutes to say a little bit about yourself in your
profile.
2.
You
don’t have to be perfect the first time around. Many people don’t fill out their member profile because they
want to find the perfect thing to say.
The beauty about the internet is that you can often post something and
then go back and tweak it later.
Put your basic information on your profile and when you have more time
you can go back and perfect it.
3.
When
you do write your profile make sure you include 1) your profession 2) why
you’re on the network 3) a link to your resume or other pertinent information
about yourself such as a link to an article or podcast you did.
4.
Add
to the community. If you want to
connect to other members on the social network make sure that you’re commenting on member questions, videos, blogs and podcasts. Take the time to share valuable information such as links
about events, articles and opportunities and consider adding a link or two to
valuable resources in your profile.
