Being a
top-notch recruiter isn’t just about filing job orders, it is also about the
ability to help your clients plan for current and future workforce needs. For those recruiters who are helping
clients with their workforce planning, below are a few tips:
1.
Don’t
delay workforce planning. Many employers may feel tempted to put off their
workforce planning because it doesn’t seem like an urgent need. But it is the responsibility of the
recruiter to help the client understand that workforce planning will not only
help them staff more effectively; but will save them money in the long run.
2.
Make
sure that as a recruiter you thoroughly understand the firm’s needs and what
the company offers to potential candidates. Is there a good match?
Why would a quality candidate want to work with this firm? Find out what the company’s
“attraction” assets are and focus on emphasizing those assets as you create
your workforce planning strategy.
3.
Make
sure you get “insiders” involved in your workforce planning. If you’re a third-party recruiter and
have been contracted to work with the firm, tap into the knowledge that’s
already there. Connect with the
hiring manager or internal recruiters if possible and find out what they have to
offer so that you can plan effectively.
