An average job
candidate is someone who can get the job done in today’s environment and under
today’s rules of engagement. But
what about the future? Things are
always changing, so having a “cutting edge” job candidate is really the desired
outcome for most employers and recruiters. What are some of the indicators that your job candidate is
cutting edge?
1.
The
job candidate has always been a trendsetter. Is your job candidate the type of
person who has in the past created new systems or tried to do things in new
ways? Innovation is a quality that
is common among cutting edge job candidates.
2.
The
job candidate is a go-getter who is willing to find problems for which he/she
can provide solutions. Has your job candidate shown that they have solved
problems at their current or former employer’s business? Job candidates who are go-getters who
solve problems are usually the type of employees who will be able to see events
on the horizon and be willing and able to adapt quickly.
3.
The
job candidate is aware of current events in their industry. Is the job
candidate aware of industry trends, news and changes? Are they involved with
organizations and associations in their industry? Job candidates who stay abreast of their industry’s changes
are likely to perform just as well in a future work environment even if it
changes significantly.
4.
The
job candidate desires to continue their education, informally or formally. Is
your job candidate constantly learning?
Job candidates who continue their education beyond what is required are
more likely to belong to the “cutting edge” category than the average one.
