Building
long-term relationships with employers who have ongoing recruiting needs is
important for any recruiter who wants to build a strong foundation for their
business. Below are a few tips for recruiters looking to build win-win
relationships with employers:
1.
Be
flexible. Understand that ever job
order does not need to be filed by you. Sometimes an employer needs to use
alternative methods for sourcing for a particular job opportunity.
2.
Reward
loyalty. While you don’t have to
win every job order of your long-term clients, employers who consistently work
with you to fill their sourcing needs should be rewarded for their loyalty.
3.
Be
honest but tactful. Do you feel
that the employer has unrealistic expectations of job candidates? Don’t keep it to yourself; tactfully
tell the employer why they may not be realistically approaching their
recruiting efforts.
4.
Be
creative. Try to come up with “out
of the box” sourcing strategies that attract the superstar job candidates every
employer desires.
5.
Respect
your limits. If you don’t have the
expertise or contacts to fulfill a job order don’t over-promise and
under-deliver. Simply let your client know that you can’t fill the job order
and refer them to someone who can.
