The Importance of Customer Service continued....

by Laura Leopard 24. March 2009 09:03
As the opportunities have shrunk in recent months, so has the need for a rise in ‘customer service’.  It’s time to do things the old fashioned way.  It’s time to create relationships, time to do due diligence about law firms AND candidates.  This is the moment where the cream will rise to the top, and the less professional recruiter will join Circuit City’s fate.  People remember good service.  People remember favors and people remember a pleasant experience.  By going over and beyond the call of duty, you will set yourself apart.

Law firm layoffs are all around us.  Why not call a beleaguered law firm and see if you might help?  Is there anyone there you might be able to place?  Anywhere you could refer them, any advice or networking opportunities you can share.  When times are tough, the small kindnesses you show now, will long be remembered.  Your fate along with the fate of the firms you service, are inexplicably entwined.  Helping a firm with displaced associates today might help you place a partner down the road.  You will be sowing the seeds for a strong business relationship.  Raising the level of your game will not only increase your good reputation but will increase your business down the road.

Why not take this time and look at your business method to see where it might improve? Where might you need changes, and what could you do better?  Many years ago, I worked for the Ritz Carlton and when I left their employ, I took a very valuable lesson with me. Employees of the Ritz are indoctrined from their first day of employment to go ‘over and above the call of duty’.  If a guest needed directions in the hotel, you didn’t point, you didn’t explain, you walked them there. Whatever a guest required, it was your duty as a Ritz employee to go ‘over and beyond the call of duty”.  It’s not a bad company moto – one that just might make the difference in these difficult times.

SPECIAL NOTE: Leopard Solutions clients can begin fostering new relationships on March 25th, 4:00 EST.
